A custom portrait is one-of-a-kind gift – a special way to commemorate a life event, a beloved pet, or the memory of a loved one.
Faces are my favourite thing to draw! I have 13 years of experience creating custom portraits – I started out painting in oils (and I still do, occasionally), and now I work mostly digitally.

You can order a basic portrait here! And a pet portrait here. If you’re looking to include elements that aren’t included in the basic portrait (detailed background, additional objects, text, etc,), please fill out the inquiry form at the bottom of this page for a custom quote.
Reference
I like to have at least 5 photos of the subject to work from – one primary reference, and a couple of additional ones. Ideally with natural or studio lighting. If you want specific facial expressions (smile, grumpy, sassy, etc), or clothing, please include photos of the subject with this expression and or clothing.
Process
Once I have your reference photos, I start by creating a rough line drawing of the subjects to figure out likeness, composition, and general details. I'll get your approval on the rough before I start the final illustration. After the piece is finished, you'll have the opportunity to request a few minor edits. Any changes after that are billed at an additional $80/hour.
Usage
Any personal usage is included in the fee. If you ever want to make additional use of the portrait(s) in the future, for business, promotional, institutional, or retail purposes, be sure to inquire so that we can discuss the terms of a licence for additional use of the work.
Turnaround
A digital portrait typically takes about 3 weeks to complete.
